The kids are out of school, the weather is warm and flowers are blooming. It’s officially time for spring cleaning! Here are a few tips to help you get going:
-
Start with the stuff you need to get rid of. Like things that you plan on giving away or throwing away. Do one room at a time sorting things into these categories. At the end of the day sack up the items you want to get rid of and take them to the dumpster. Box up the items you want to give away and put them in your car.
-
Clean out everything from each closet. Only put back in the things you need to keep. Pack anything else up in boxes to donate or put in your mini storage unit.
-
Store as much digitally as possible. Many of your childrens art projects, drawings and paintings can be saved forever by simply snapping a digital picture and throwing out the original. If you’d like to display these works of art in your home, consider buying a digital photo frame, which can rotate through hundreds of pictures. You can also set your computer’s screensaver to display these pictures.
-
Now it’s time to do the one-a-year things you don’t normally do on a weekly or monthly basis. These are things like washings the drapes, cleaning the windows, steam-cleaning the carpet, testing the smoke detectors and cleaning off the top and behind major appliances such as your refrigerator and stove.
From all of us at Browning Park Mini Storage, enjoy the spring and have a great summer!
